Slip Stitch Swing Dress

Hello! back again, I know I know there is so much time between posts but really... I'd rather be knitting, or feeding my kids.. they do get hungry you know :) lol but anyway here is another new design also available on Knitpick's for a cotton sundress that was designed for my daughter Abby who decided that she will not wear anything except dresses. That is you could try to get her in something else but really it isn't worth the risk of bodily harm or loss of limb to actually complete the endeavor. So a super cute sundress just perfect for twirling and running and playing in.

This dress is knit by casting on 28sts for the grodets and working with a slip stitch pattern and short rows to create the triangular shapes. Then the stitches for the width of the spacer rectangles are cast on from the point of the triangle and the live stitches from the grodet short rows are knit into the spacer rectangles. When each spacer rectangle is finished its stitches are left live on holders and the next grodet is cast on into the side of the spacer rectangle. The bottom flare is constructed in this manner and when all grodets and spacers are complete the live stitches from the spacer rectangles are picked up and worked in the round for the body of the dress. This dress also features a slip stitch collar and belt with knit in belt loops worked directly into the chest without any sewing. A perfect dress for summer the slip stitch swing dress is cool in cotton and has enough flare for perfect twirling every time.
