A wide panel of lace over lace crossings is complimented by a main body of welted stitches in the Bainbridge Wrap. Every Adventure cable uses 4 lace stitches crossed over either purl or knit stitches. A single section of extra large eyelets are worked parallel to the Adventure Cables on the opposite side of the wrap giving the finished piece a balanced composition.
I love a rectangular wrap since I think they can be worn on the shoulders, or as a large scarf, and designing one is more like creating a painting or drawing than a knitting design. For this stitch pattern I wanted to emulate water, twisting and flowing around itself in a circular convection current. The upper narrow border reminds me of the horizon line and the welted patterning is like rows and rows of rippled sandbars reaching out into the swirling water.

Pattern Notes
This shawl is worked flat back and forth, double yarnovers are worked as a knit and a purl on the wrong side creating two stitches out of the double wrapped stitch.
