Work in the round this extra cushy and thick scarf has regular knit cables nestled within the stranded patterning. Even though this pattern has both stranded patterning and cables they are not worked at the same time, carry the floats loosely behind the cabled stitches. Slipped stitches are worked every second round to create a fold in the fabric and help it lie flat. The edges are worked with a 2x2 ribbing pattern and the scarf is intentionally shorter to loop around the back neck once, but this pattern is easily repeatable for any length of scarf desired.
This scarf was designed with my husband in mind, he loves to have a warm and squishy scarf to keep the chill away but he hates to have that scarf in front of his neck. This scarf is worked double thick in the round, is wide enough to cover the back of his neck from under the collar to hairline and long enough to just cross over in front creating a v-neck shape. The colors were chosen from a long ago and barely remembered camp t-shirt with excellent 1970’s harvest gold and russet orange on a mild beige background.

Pattern Notes
This scarf is worked in the round, it is essentially a tube so all rounds are worked and seed from the right side of the work. The scarf is divided into the front and back with the first and last stitches of the front and back slipped knitwise with the yarn in back every 2 rounds. This creates a fold in the scarf and helps it lie flat.
