The center of this shawl is begun with a provisional cast on and worked back and forth on the shorter circular needle creating a rectangle. When the length is complete, the stitches are left live and border stitches are picked up and worked along the other 3 remaining edges. The piece is then joined to be worked in the round with markers to indicate the square corner patterning sections.
